Narrative:

At the end of The Civics Institute's fundraiser. By sheer coincidence Governor Granholm's point person on the event was one of my former students (a former Conflix-ite from the first session, actually), Lisa Stark.

I was supposed to speak at the event, but the Governor was running late, so I was axed. This was actually a merciful exclusion. I had planned to talk about the efforts of our IPD crew, but because of the snowfall that closed all the local schools, the kids weren't there--and given the text of my speech I'd have felt like a dork giving it. (If you're an IPD'er and want to read it anyway, here it is.)
